Kia ora

Whitney and Whitney’s Kapu Tī is a collaborative project founded in 2017 by Whitney Nicholls-Potts (Ngāti Kurī) and Whitney Wainui (Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Porou, Ngāriki Kaipūtahi).

The source of inspiration for this project is a love of tea and the culture we enjoy through drinking it: hui, discussion, art, ceremony, wānanga, connectedness to people and nature, manaakitanga.

We hope to restore the ceremony of tea in daily life through the conscious practice of Kapu Tī. At the same time as providing safe spaces to kōrero Māori, and opening up spaces to reflect on your own journey with regards to Te Reo Māori.

Our stall at the Grey Lynn farmers market on Sundays has been a really great platform to field ideas, kōrero Māori and gather a community.

Every packet of our tea comes from a small handmade batch and is made with high quality loose leaf tea, herbs and spices with instructions to make your ideal cup of tea.
